Thousands visit Calne Model Railway ShowPosted on 23rd January 2015
An estimated 1,400 people visited the annual Calne Model Railway Show from 17th-18th January this year.
The event attracted people residing in holiday cottages in Wiltshire, local residents and train enthusiasts from across the UK and the world.
The 22nd Calne Model Railway Show had 18 layouts of famous tracks from not only the UK, but also scenes based on tracks in Switzerland, Germany and JRR Tolkein’s Middle Earth.
The event showed off model trains and railways from the 1920s to the modern trains that we see today.
Geoff Endacott, the Exhibition manager, told the Wiltshire Times, “It went really well. We had about 1,400 visits, which is similar to last year so I’m reasonably pleased with that.
“We get lots of families down and some children were crying because they wanted to stay longer.”
Bookings have already been made for the 2016 show as organisers expect next year’s event to be just as big a success as this year’s show.
