International visitors are spending more in Wiltshire as new figures recently released show that holidaymakers spent £97 million last year.
Luxury holiday cottages in Wiltshire are a popular choice amongst visitors to the county and new figures revealed that 287,000 international holidaymakers visited the county in 2014, a 17 per cent increase on the number of visitors in 2013.
The £97 million spent by international holidaymakers in Wiltshire was also a 17 per cent increase on the amount spent by international visitors in 2013.
Tourism Minister Tracey Crouch told the Salisbury Journal, “Competition for global travellers has never been higher, which is why we must not be complacent and continue to invest and support the UK’s tourism offer.”
This latest news also comes off the back of the government revealing that they have created a £5 million fund for the South West to advertise Wiltshire as a must-see destination. This is expected to bring in an extra £60 million of income and create 1,000 jobs.
