Some 4 miles to the west of the cathedral city of Salisbury and a mile from Wilton, ancient capital of Wessex, is the small village of Burcombe, surrounded by the water meadows of the River Nadder. The Old Vicarage Cottage and adjacent Victorian Gothic Vicarage stand on higher ground next to the small 12th century parish church above the main part of the village. They enjoy good views over the village and valley beyond.
From The Old Vicarage there is a track leading to Grovely Woods crossed by numerous paths and bridleways (good for walking and mountain biking), while from the village below there is access up onto the Old Ox Drove, which runs along the ridge of the West Wiltshire Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Burcombe is within easy driving distance of a whole range of visitor attractions, Stonehenge, Wilton House, Bath, Longleat, Stourhead, The New Forest and the Dorset Heritage coastline to the south.
