Situated on the southern edge of The Cotswolds and to the north of the Marlborough Downs, the small town of Malmesbury is thought to be the oldest borough in England with a royal charter granted by King Alfred in 880 AD.The town is steeped in history; there is a Norman abbey which now serves as the parish church, the Athelstan Museum and an ornate 15th century Market Cross at the top of the High Street.

The surrounding area has much to offer its visitors. A short distance away to the north is the Cotswolds Water Park, an area of over 30 square miles with several nature reserves and which offers a huge variety of water sport activities. There are many pretty Cotswold villages to visit as well as the Roman town of Cirencester (12 miles). Avebury Stone Circle, Lacock village (both National Trust) Bath and Oxford are all within an hour's drive.

Kings Cottage has been beautifully refurbished and is one in a row of 17th century, Cotswold stone cottages situated in a quiet 'no through' street beneath the old town wall. It is a just a couple of minutes' walk from the High Street shops and looks down towards the River Avon where you can join the Malmesbury River Walk, a 2 mile circuit which passes through water meadows at the bottom of the town. There is a Leisure Centre with swimming pool also within walking distance.

The cottage is decorated, furnished and equipped to a very high standard and is ideal for couples or a small family. It has been awarded a 3 star grading by Visit Britain.
