| Appletree Cottage is situated along a country lane on the edge of the Wiltshire village of Burbage, a 15 minute walk from the Kennet and Avon canal on its journey from Reading to Bath. The cottage enjoys far reaching views across open farmland.
This part of Wiltshire has many contrasting landscapes - the ancient Savernake Forest, the open expanses of the Marlborough Downs above the more sheltered Vale of Pewsey. The area is rich in prehistoric sites such as Avebury Stone Circle, Silbury Hill and Kennet Long Barrow and is also of interest for its industrial past - Crofton Beam Engines and a working windmill at Wilton. Narrow boat trips are available on the canal from nearby Wootton Rivers and Pewsey.
6 miles to the north of Burbage, the attractive market town of Marlborough has some good antique shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants.
Built in the 18th century, Appletree Cottage is full of character, and is tastefully furnished.
