Film shot in Wiltshire premieres this weekPosted on 05th December 2013
The quiet village of Biddestone in Wiltshire is to hit the big screen next week, as Hollywood film The Christmas Candle, starring the likes of Four Weddings and a Funeral’s John Hannah, is to premiere in the UK.
The major production, which also stars Les Miserables actress Samantha Banks and former Doctor Who Sylvester McCoy, is based on the novel by American Max Lucardo and features many local residents as extras. Regulars on Wiltshire cottage breaks may recognise some of the buildings in the movie, as local cottages made up part of the set during filming.
The film is set to be a great hit, having taken over £988,000 in its first two weeks at the US box office, according to this article, and it will also mark Susan Boyle’s acting debut, with the singer spending a week in Biddestone for filming.
Local residents and visitors to Wiltshire alike are already anticipating the film’s release, which is due to show in UK cinemas from the 13th December.
