Celebrating the Wiltshire Armed ForcesPosted on 16th June 2015
Several Wiltshire communities will hold parades and celebrations in honour of the nation’s armed forces. On both 27 and 28 June, events will mark the importance of the British military and their sacrifices over the years.
Accessing one the various celebrations in the area is easy from our rural holiday cottages in Wiltshire. In Salisbury, their event will include a Freedom of the City Parade for the Royal Regiment of Artillery, one of the oldest known units in the military, and they will bring their drums, band and bayonets to the streets of the town.
Event celebrations will be held in the Market Place and Guildhall Square. The event is free for all the family, with army equipment displays and workshops for children. Event organisers plan to have fair rides, street food, live music and much more.
Nearby, Trowbridge is also hosting events to mark the occasion. Held throughout the entire weekend, the Wiltshire Armed Forces & Veterans Celebrations will offer arena displays, marching bands, military vehicles, battle re-enactments and flypasts.
